The International Sculpture Park in my hometown Linyi in Shandong Province, China showcases wacky replicas of more than 100 well-known historical and contemporary sculptures found in a wide range of countries around the world. These fake sculptures are spectacles but also deceptions for the citizens of my hometown. I photograph the fake sculptures in various ways and collect archival images, social media posts, and mass media pictures of the actual sculpture pieces, utilizing digital post-production and physical manipulation to complicate and blend those images. I intend to construct a new international sculpture park existing between reality and imagination. This project addresses the significant disparity between the economic and cultural developments caused by China’s swift urban growth.
